Betty Lou Gomes

Betty Lou Gomes passed away peacefully at home on November 2, 2025, at the age of 86.   Born in Providence Rhode Island on May 31, 1939, to the late Louis Fontes and Maria Fontes (Pina).

Betty Lou was preceded in death by her husband Adrian C. Gomes, sister Debra Hairston (Fontes) and daughter Charlotte R. Gomes.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughters Tina L. Gross (Dwight) of California, Adrienna M. Gomes, and Tricia A. Gomes (Derek), both of Providence, Rhode Island. Ten grandchildren, Dwight, Kyle, Leron, Kiarra, Kavon, Kandace, Chanelle, Sharrod, Derek and Shae-Quell.  Eleven great-grandchildren, Damyanae, King, Tytan, Jurney, Darryl, Dalyss, Xhouri, Legend, Amahri, Armanee, and A’mazyn.

Betty Lou received her education through the Providence School System and was a graduate of Hope High School. She was a board member of The Wiggin Village Housing Complex. Betty Lou was employed by the Providence Housing Authority as a Tenant Selection Specialist for thirty years until her retirement in 2001.

Betty Lou loved life, music, dancing and family gatherings. Anyone who knew her knew she was a fashionista and had an eye for fashion (from head to toe). Her favorite pass time was playing the lottery-she loved playing the daily numbers, keno and going to the casino or as she would say “the track”. 

Betty Lou will be dearly missed by family and friends.
