Charles L. Jones, Jr.

Charles Lindbergh Jones Jr., 71, of North Providence, RI, gained his wings on May 26, 2025. Known affectionately to family and friends as “Berghie” or “Charlie,” he was deeply loved by all who knew him.

He was the devoted husband of Emma Jones for 31 wonderful years. Charles was born in Providence, RI, to the late Charles L. Jones Sr. and Dorothy Jones (Potter).

He leaves to cherish his memory eight beloved children: Dwayne Stokes (Myesha) of Washington, DC, LaToya Williams, Wesley Brown,  Turon Williams, Ashley Williams Crim-Briggs (Brandon), Candia London, Demetreuss London, and Charlee Jones. He was the proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Charles is also survived by four sisters and two brothers: Lisa Parker (Ray), Roxane Riddle (Lee), Bea Doughty, Cynthia Reed, Tyrone Jones, and Lonnie Jones, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is now joyfully reunited with his brothers, Garth Jones and Weldon Jones. We will always treasure the memories he left behind.

Charles worked as a custodian at Herff Jones for 19 years, where he met the love of his life, Emma. He was known for his witty charm. Charles was a strong disciplinarian. Charles loved being surrounded by his family—especially his grandchildren—and always made sure things got done his way.

A devoted member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Charles cherished his church family and deeply admired his pastor, whom he only allowed to call him “Charlie Lindbergh.” His faith remained strong even in his final days.

Charles will be profoundly missed. May his soul rest in peace, for he has fought a good fight. To God be the glory.
