Hector Juan Concepcion, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, in Providence, Rhode Island. Born on October 16, 1963, Hector brought warmth, flavor, and rhythm into every space he entered.
Hector was a gifted chef whose cooking wasn’t just known—it was felt. His daughter, Joana Concepcion Velez, fondly remembers recognizing the smell of his food from the corner of the street after school, a scent that meant comfort, love, and home. His culinary skills weren’t just celebrated in the family; Hector was honored as Employee of the Month and Year for ten years in a row—an achievement that speaks to his unmatched dedication and passion for his craft.
But Hector’s talents stretched beyond the kitchen. He had a deep love for salsa music, and his laughter—joyful and contagious—filled every room. Known for his effortless style and unmistakable flow, he carried himself with pride, always dressed to impress and move to the rhythm of life. Above all, Hector treasured his family. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Joana, and his two cherished grandchildren, Yaikiria A. Concepcion Velez and Kayden N. Concepcion Velez, who will continue to carry his love, lessons, and legacy forward.
Hector’s presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his spirit will live on in the meals we share, the music we dance to, and the laughter that echoes through our memories.
