John Joseph "Duce" Johnson 48 years old, born on September 21, 1977, departed this life in Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by his family on September 24, 2025.

John was born in Providence, RI. to Overseer Carolyn R. Brown and Brother Johnny B. Johnson (Vivian). John is the father of one son Mehkai C. Robertson-Johnson.


John was a member of Faith in Christ Community Outreach Center Church. He was educated in the Providence School System; he attended Providence Christian Academy and Faith Christian Academy. He was a very outgoing and sociable person, one of his greatest passions were his family and friends, especially his five-year-old son Mehkai.


John was a very versatile person, He was an accomplished tradesman, he loved to seek out new opportunities to expand his skills and knowledge, he coached little league football, John was a confident sportsman, he loved making people laugh, he loved to have fun. Another great passion of John's life was the study of God's Word. His four favorite Bible teachers were: R.C. Sprull, C.S. Lewis, Dr. Michael Brown, and Dr. Tony Evans. Four of his favorite quotes were:


The two most powerful words are "I Can"
The most powerful force in life is "Love"
If you don't understand, "Ask"
"Dreams are not something you wait for, they are something to work for."


John's jubilant personality impacted many lives. He is survived by four sisters Carolyn Johnson-Hopkins, Linda Alves, Tina and Jenny Crawford. Two brothers in law, Ronald G. Hopkins and Johnny Ray Williams. Two brothers, Robert A. Jackson and Michael Keith. Eight nieces, Keyonna and Nalisha Jackson. Janae and Deja' Alves. Jonell, Ja-nelle, Jonnae, and Sandra Williams. Darshelle, Malayzia, Melly, Nardia Bowe. One great niece, Alyiah Marie Jackson. Four nephews, Terrell A. Jackson, Jabari Alves, Mikhel Bowe, Johnny Ray Williams III. One God-sister, Sonya Brown, two God-brothers, Kwame Davis and Larmie Coleman. Two Godmothers, Pastor Marilyn Lassiter and Pastor Clara Nardolillo.
Three uncles, Marshall, Willie, and Shannon Johnson, Five aunts, Geneva & Margaret Johnson, Lillie Mae Adeniyi, Lois Manuel, and Diane Noble-Bell from Ohio and a host of cousins and friends.


John was proceeded in death by his grandparents (both sides), several uncles, aunts, cousins, and one brother Michael Bowe. John lived a fun-full life. He lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed.

His mother was his best friend. His mother left this statement, " It was a joy to be his mother".
