L. Albert Goudreau Obituary

L. Albert Goudreau, 85, of Seekonk, died Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Dorothy A. (Frost) Goudreau, his devoted wife of 60 years. Born in Seekonk, he was a son of the late Edward Goudreau and Imelda (Fournier) Goudreau.

Above all, Al was dedicated to God and his family. He was a Communicant of St. Stephen’s Church in Attleboro and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Seekonk. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a volunteer with the Salvation Army, and spent many happy years singing with Les Gais Chanteurs.

Al was a member at Briggs Beach in Little Compton for over 40 years, and could often be found there with family and friends. He enjoyed tending to his yard, and along with his wife, took great pride in the appearance of their home and landscape. In years past he had been an avid vegetable gardener. Al approached life with joie-de-vivre and a finely-tuned sense of humor. “Pepere” was the perennial Santa at the family Christmas and was the distributor of gifts, sometimes telling a short story in the process. He was a lover of nature, enjoying many trips to Arizona and to Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont. Pepere always loved and cared for animals, especially his many pets over the years. Most of all, Pep was proud of his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and fun-loving uncle.

Mr. Goudreau was a graduate of Providence College and member of MENSA. During his career, he was a director of information systems at CVS, Rhode Island Housing, and Cherry & Webb/Outlet Corp.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving children: Kristin M. Voccio & her husband Richard of Seekonk, Matthew C. Goudreau (EPFD ret’d) & his wife Tammy of Seekonk, and Mark E. Goudreau & his wife Anna of Seekonk. Cherished grandfather of Benjamin Goudreau, Leah Voccio, Lauren Voccio, Emma Goudreau, Brenten Girard, and Nathan Girard.  He was the brother of Marie Trudell, Paul Goudreau, Bernadette Ribeiro, Rita George, David Goudreau, and the late George Goudreau, Jeanne Paine, Claire Beauregard, Richard Goudreau, and Therese Richard.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Coyle Drive, Seekonk, MA.  Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Attleboro.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Darlington Mortuary of L. Heroux & Son, 1042 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
