Mary E. Rollins Mclain

Mary Elizabeth Rollins McLain, 97, went into rest peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025. She was born on June 20, 1928, to the late James A Rollins Sr and Rachel J. Clark Rollins in Providence, RI, where she lived and raised her family. She was the wife of the late William McLain Sr.

Mary was a loving mother of nine children. Her daughters are Mary Jane Rollins Bruins, Slivia McLain Counts, Betty McLain, Rowena K. McLain, Debbie McLain Lee, and her son John. D. Mclain and preceded in death her daughters Susan L. Mclain, Gloria J. Mclain and Son William Mclain Jr.

Mary had twelve siblings with one sister still living. Preceded in death by her 5 brother’s James A. Rollins Jr, Robert Rollins, Clarence Rollins, Joseph Rollins, and John Rollins. Also preceded in death were her 6 Sisters. Melvina Washington, Susan Briggs, Grace Pierce, Ella Robertson, Pauline Scott, Esther Rollins. One Sister Helen Gomes is left to cherish her memories.

Mary leaves 24 grandchildren and 2 generations of great and great-great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death her grandson George J. Rollins and granddaughters Jasmine Mclain, Krystal Mclain. Great-granddaughter Diona McLain and Great-grandson Terrell McLain.

A host of nieces and nephews and cousins all to cherish her memories.

Mary had a quiet spirit with a big heart. She opened her home to many people throughout the years. When she smiled her beautiful eyes opened wide. She had a slick sense of humor if you didn’t listen carefully, you would have missed it. She had some saying we can carry on with like dog bite, okey-doke, you better stop romping around, you wanna fat lip, If anybody puts their hands on me I would be out to line ( meaning going to jail), That did it, I’m 21 again I don’t know how it happens every year, Girl, I'm going to do you in, Wait a dog on minute.  She shared a lot of time here on earth. She finished her job and now it's time to sleep in peace. It’s never goodbye, it’s see you later.
