Perry Kent Delgado,74, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 in Providence, RI. Born on November 4, 1949, in Providence, RI. The youngest of three, Perry was born to his beloved parents, Evelyn (Hammond) Delgado, and John L. Delgado, Sr. Perry was named after the singer Perry Cuomo, with his middle name “Kent” for the cigarette brand. Perry’s maternal grandparents were the late George S. and Vivian F. Hammond; his paternal grandparents were the late Louis M. Delgado and Bertha (Wilnuff) Delgado.
Perry honorably served one tour of duty in Vietnam (Airborne) for his country and came home safely to his family.
Upon Perry’s return from Vietnam, he worked for the US Postal Service in Providence, RI for approximately 40 years. Perry also served as a union steward while employed there.
In the spring of 2023, Perry went on the “Honor Flight”, a national organization that transports American Veterans to Washington DC to honor and celebrate him for his service in the Vietnam War.
Perry was an avid pool player, who frequented Phil’s and then Snookers in Providence. He competed and won many tournaments throughout his pool career.,
Perry leaves his older brother and sister, John “Skeezie” Delgado, Jr (Deborah) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Sharon E. Delgado Fordham of Rumford, RI. He is also survived by his Aunts Vivian “Bibby” (Hammond) Moore, Ann Hammond, and Uncle Paul B. Hammond. Additionally, Perry was a loving uncle to his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great grandnieces. He also leaves a multitude of loving cousins and friends.
Perry will be remembered for his laugh, quick wit, and sense of humor, and will be deeply missed by all.
The funeral for Perry will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 9:00 am at the Darlington Mortuary L. Heroux & Son, 1042 Newport Avenue in Pawtucket, RI. Internment will take place at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Exeter, RI. The repass will be held at Snookers Sports Billiards Bar & Grill in Providence, RI for a celebration of Perry’s life.
