Robert, H. Lachapelle Jr, 82 of Seekonk, MA died peacefully on Wednesday with his wife, daughter, grandchildren and God daughter Kristen by his side. Born in Central Falls, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Robert H. Lachapelle, Sr. and Germaine (Bernier) Lachapelle.
After graduating from St. Raphael Academy, he went on to Providence College and then Mt. Ida where he obtained a degree in Mortuary Science. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War when he enlisted as a Medic in the Rhode Island Army National Guard. In 1964 he built the Lachapelle Funeral Home on the corner of Main and Capital Street where he grew up. He proudly served the Woodlawn Community as a Funeral Director for over 52 years and performed many acts of kindness for families and organizations in the community. He took great pride in his profession and was well respected and loved by everyone who knew him.
In 1968 he met the love of his life, Marguerite (DiSanto) Lachapelle and they had one daughter, Christine. His family was his greatest accomplishment and he loved nothing more than spending time with them.
Beside his parents, he is predeceased by a grandson, Noah Henry.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Marguerite, daughter Christine and her husband Bill, his sister Pauline Silva and her husband Jack, and six (6) grandchildren, Tyler, Christian, Morgan and her wife Karen, Andrew, Sophia and Quinn. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and God children whom he adored.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, 69 Quincy Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. Burial at Swan Point Cemetery, Blackstone Boulevard, Providence. All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in Robert’s name can be made to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904. Arrangements by Darlington Mortuary of L.
