William Johnson Obituary

William Benjamin "Bill" Johnson, 53, passed away on February 10, 2025, in East Providence, Rhode Island. Born on March 31, 1970, in Providence, Rhode Island, Bill lived a life filled with kindness, generosity, and devotion to his family and faith.

A graduate of Central High School, Bill dedicated much of his career to the healthcare field. He worked for many years at Rhode Island Hospital before continuing his professional journey at Miriam Hospital. His commitment to his work reflected his deep care for others and his desire to make a difference in the lives of those around him.

Bill was a devoted father and survived by his four children: William Johnson Jr. of Providence; Justin Johnson and Brandon Johnson of East Providence; and Alyssah Lee Ann Marie Johnson of Providence. He also leaves behind his sisters Theresa Rollins and Tiandra Montgomery of Providence and Ayanna Johnson of Douglasville, Georgia. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews along with many cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Karen M. Johnson, his father Benny Johnson, his sister Jermell M. Lender and her daughter Kijah Lender.

Bill had a deep love for music and film. He enjoyed reggae music and was an avid fan of Bruce Lee films. Growing up, one of his favorite rap groups was Run-D.M.C., whose music remained close to his heart throughout the years. Another passion of Bill’s was caring for plants—a gift he inherited from his mother. His green thumb brought him joy as he nurtured life through nature.

Health-conscious and disciplined, Bill prioritized maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He took great care in following a balanced diet and staying active at the gym. His dedication to wellness was just one example of how he approached life with intention and purpose.

Faith played an essential role in Bill’s life. A devoted believer in the Lord, he found great fulfillment in worshiping with fellow members of the faith community. He actively participated in services and church functions that enriched both his spiritual journey and personal relationships.

Those who knew Bill remember him as a kind-hearted man with a mild temperament and an unwavering sense of integrity. He welcomed everyone with warmth and a bright smile that could light up any room. A man of strong principles, he treated all people with respect and carried himself with humility and grace. His presence left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him.

Bill’s passing is not only a profound loss for his family but also for the many friends and community members whose lives he touched. His generosity of spirit will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
